About Maguro

Maguro or bluefin tuna is often considered the crème de la crème of sashimi. This ‘beef of the sea’ is one of the most expensive fish and is prized for its red meat with exquisite texture and taste.

The most sought after portion is the ‘toro’ or belly – with its high fat content giving it a uniquely luxurious feel. The other main parts are the chutoro (medium fatty belly made up of both otoro and lean meat (akami).

JTC can provide both frozen and fresh chilled versions.

We buy directly from Maguro processing plants reputed for good quality. We supply loins that come from different parts of the bluefin tuna (each part comes with different proportions of toro, chutoro and akami, and are priced differently.)

JTC can supply all manners of maguro cuts. Although some cuts are highly in demand and sometimes not available, we are still able to get these cuts for you as we have strong relationships with the processors.
